Pam Grier is an African American actress that will turn 61 on 24th day of fifth month this year. It is almost exactly 4 decades that she's been in the entertainment world starting her career in the early seventies. Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls ('70) was her first appearance, followed by equally strong parts in Women in Cages and The Big Doll House, a year later. It was unusual at that time that someone of her origins actually plays a strong character but it scored her popularity beyond belief.

She continued appearing in movies and series like Foxy Brown ('74), Miami Vice ('84), Mars Attacks ('96) and many others. The credits for her work really started flowing in when she was in Jackie Brown and she received 10 nominations and won 2 of those. Nominations further followed for her work in Linc's ('99), 3AM ('00), Bones ('01), Law & Order: SVU ('03), and The L Word ('04-'09). She also received a nomination for Golden Globe award.

On a personal note, Pam Grier (Pamela Suzette Grier) comes from Winston-Salem, North Carolina but hardly stayed in one place due to her dad's type of work. She dated various profiles from basketballers to actors and was even a fiancee of a marketing person but never tied the knot.
